Summer/Fall 2010 Monday Classes - Literature, Geography, Science, History

9 weeks of classes Aug 9-Oct 11

Per family costs (non refundable & paid in advance):
1 class pays $45 per class - $45 for 9 classes - $5 per class

2 classes $40 per class - $80 for 18 classes - $4.44 per class

3 classes $35 per class = $105 for 27 classes - $3.89 per class

4 or more classes $30 per class = $120 for 36 classes - $3.33 per class (Saves
$60 off normal pricing!)

*discounts above can be applied as a sibling or a class discount. One kid taking 4 classes =$30 per class or 4 kids from the same family taking 1 class each = $30 per class.


Like all our HCECF classes, MOST of the stuff you need including notebooks  are provided in the class fees.

Required books not included in class fees and approximate cost.
Geography - atlas needed varies by which level of homework is appropriate for your child(ren)

grammar stage (1st - 4th) - Rand McNally Schoolhouse Beginner World Atlas (older
version is called Rand McNally Jr Classroom Atlas) ($6, 48 pages)

logic stage (5th - 8th) - Rand McNally Schoolhouse World Atlas (older version is
called Rand McNally Classroom Atlas) ($7, 112 pages)

rhetoric stage (9th - 12th) - Rand McNally Answer Atlas the Geography Resource
for Students($13, 176 pages)

History - Story of the World 2 Middle Ages reader  - OLD EDITION - its on SALE for about $6 in hard or soft cover at Peace Hill Press There is also an Audio book version that is helpful for struggling readers.

Some families may already have these books or wish to use the library copy which is why we didn't build them into the class cost.

 What classes are offered?

10:00 am Literature - 2 different classes for different levels held at same time
(hint: each kid can only take one of these unless you've cloned them)
Medieval themed WRITING COMPOSITION for older kids
OR
Literature and early learning class for ones who aren't yet reading and writing
well enough on their own (stories, games, activities, projects and fun)

11:00 am Geography - for all levels - youngest kids may need parental help! (You
have to purchase a book for this course) - focus on Africa

12:00 lunch - byo, but w/ enough interest we maybe able to do a purchased lunch

12:30 pm Science - for all levels - focus on famous scientists

1:30 pm History - for all levels - medieval history (You have to purchase a book for this course)

2:30 clean up

Classes all include 3 days worth of homework and/or enrichment activities per
week to be further expand the learning!


All classes draw on materials from several sources and should likely be titled
"geography and more" and similar titles since we strive to pull in cross
curricular resources.


Additional 9 week long sessions will follow as we complete a 36 week homeschool year in these subjects.
